Iconic brands back Wests Tigers v One NZ Warriors NRL Telstra Premiership Match

Mitre 10, Coca-Cola Europacific Partners, The Rock and Te Wānanga o Aotearoa are headline commercial partners ahead of the sell-out Wests Tigers and One NZ Warriors at FMG Stadium Waikato this weekend. This is the first NRL Telstra Premiership match in Hamilton Kirikiriroa in over six years.

Wests Tigers were the first Australian club to schedule one of this season’s home games in New Zealand. Wests Tigers’ decision to ‘give a game back’ to New Zealand comes after the Warriors made significant sacrifices through the Covid-19 pandemic.

Behind the scenes of the game is the H3 Group– home to Hamilton’s premier event venues. Director of Operations, Ben Slatter, appreciates the support from the commercial partners.

“We continue to develop some exciting sponsors and it’s pleasing to see iconic household names support us here in Hamilton Kirikiriroa”.

“The ability to link with these brands is a strong endorsement to FMG Stadium Waikato, and we look forward to further opportunities to expand the partnerships in other events.”

The Rock has a well-known passion for rugby league and an enthusiastic listener base wanting to be at the game. Head of Partnerships, Briana Lonsdale said, "The Rock and the wider Mediaworks stable have been delighted to support the Wests Tigers home game in the mighty Waikato. With the strength of the brand in the region and a lot of heritage to capitalise on, it was a no-brainer to support the sold-out event, in order to create amazing money-can't-buy experiences for our listeners and clients but also highlight the sport across our platforms and get NZ in and behind the game."

Coca-Cola Europacific Partners was eager to jump on board early in the game with Regional Business Development Manager, Phill Prosser stating, “We are excited to be the match partner for the Wests Tigers v Warriors game at the FMG Stadium Waikato.”

The final partner in the match quartet is national, but Waikato based, Education provider Te Wānanga o Aotearoa. Te Kaiwhakatere – Chief Executive Officer, Nepia Winiata says, “Te Wānanga o Aotearoa understands the idea of 'giving back' well. Many of our tauira study with us to learn skills and gain experience, so they can later contribute to their iwi, hapū, whānau, and communities. We saw a connection between these kaupapa and are happy to support the Wests Tigers and One NZ Warriors match in Kirikiriroa this weekend.

Wests Tigers play the One NZ Warriors in the NRL Telstra Premiership at FMG Stadium Waikato at 7.30pm on Saturday 12 August.
